Yet Again, Lovecraft Country

,

Sometimes, you have to hear about something a few times until it truly reaches your itchy remote finger. So here’s yet another rave review – from Yahoo! – that might finally tip the scales for you. Lovecraft Country!

Today’s Turn On: To the Lake

,

I really like the tone of this review on BGR… very personal. Even if you think you’re plagued-out, take a peek. And watch it in RUSSIAN, they say! (I added the Sci-fi tag, but I’m not sure why…)

VOD ASAP? 2067

,

If you geek out on time travel, take yourself back to a time when you paid for movies on demand, and consider shelling out $7 for 2067. No, I haven’t seen it yet, but it is in my queue. Let the review from Inverse tell you why…

More Zombies, Please!

,

South Korean Director Yeon Sang-ho follows up “Train to Busan” with more delectable zombie action. A super fun review – with trailer! – from the NYT.

Sean Connery is 90, But This Weirdness Will Last Forever

,

You can’t not post this. Or may you can not do it, but I can’t not do it. So I did. This may be your last week to let Zardoz take you away!

Sci-Fi Escapes: Another Fine List

,

This post feels like a repeat, but I swear it’s not. Maybe it’s just that Mashable seems to have a thing for lists that at 17 films long?! Either way, I think you’ll find some bit of escape here:)

Hot Tip: The Order on Netflix

,

Well, this sounds intriguing! I have to admit, I haven’t gotten to The Order on Netflix yet – so much to watch, so little time – but it is firmly on my radar now. Should it be on yours? Check out this review from SF Gate to see…

And If You Need a Little Escape from Earth…

,

This great slideshow from Stacker is cool to keep around for your next journey off-world. It has ratings for each, though doesn’t point to the when and where’s of streaming them, unfortunately. (We hope to offer that at Bingelandia soon, btw.) Still, a great, great list to keep close at hand. Check out the top 50 and see if you agree!

Take Your Sci Fi to 11

,

Don’t you think, at the very least, it’s worth going back and watching Inception just one more time? I mean, the whole thing is inside the dream of the flight attendant who is handing out blankets, isn’t it? A great list of June faves from Inverse, people:)

Final Season Alert: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

,

If you never caught Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., you really do have a treat waiting for you. A great ensemble cast – built around Agent Phil Coulson – that you can fall in love with immediately. Plenty of time to fill in backstories throughout the Marvel Universe. (When it aired live, it tied directly into the film plots.) And lots of action but little blood, so perfect for family bingeing. Yes, it sometimes jumps sharks as it jumps across planets and across time, but they’re all the right sharks. Do it for the kids, including yourself, of course!

A Few Movies You Can Ride!

,

Gizmodo is onto something with this little list of films. There are some movies that have an excitement and pace that actually make you feel like you’re taking a ride. Visceral Thrillers? Corporeal Capers? Booty Shakers? Can’t quite find the name at the moment, but why not have a read?…

The Most Star War-sie Star Wars Ever?

,

George Lucas has always told us that the idea of Star Wars drew heavily on the serial adventures of shows like Buck Rogers. And if you watch just a few episodes of the Clone Wars series, you’ll finally understand what he meant. The Sequels may have lost the plot for you, but there is a LOT to dive into here (133 episodes!) that will completely revive your appreciation for the life and times of that galaxy far, far away.
