Pin of the Week: Dear Class of 2020 Replay

,

When this tribute to the locked-down Class of 2020 was announced, we were already in one crisis. In between then and now, though, our country has taken to the streets to fight for racial equality. If this was not a must-watch before – whether you have a graduating senior or not – it becomes so now to understand how the urgency of the message to the next generation has taken on a whole new meaning for all of us.

Dear Class of 2020: Now this Sunday!

,

This great virtual ceremony honoring the class of 2020 will now debut a day later to give space for the George Floyd protests. If you’ve got a graduating senior, try to make this a part of your plans. It’s been a hard year, and they need the extra respect, love and appreciation this show offers.

Summer Kids Viewing: Our Planet

,

No, it’s not new. But everything you’ve heard is true – Our Planet is astounding. The photography is unbelievably amazing. The music is surprising and sublime. And the story of our planet – and why we can’t take the stability of nature for granted anymore – is more timely than ever. If you haven’t seen it, watch it with your kids. It will change your thinking, and maybe your lives. AND it’s on Netflix and YouTube now.

Final Season Alert: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

,

If you never caught Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., you really do have a treat waiting for you. A great ensemble cast – built around Agent Phil Coulson – that you can fall in love with immediately. Plenty of time to fill in backstories throughout the Marvel Universe. (When it aired live, it tied directly into the film plots.) And lots of action but little blood, so perfect for family bingeing. Yes, it sometimes jumps sharks as it jumps across planets and across time, but they’re all the right sharks. Do it for the kids, including yourself, of course!

One Word: Zenimation

Make It a She-Ra Summer!

,

Like other parents, I’m grappling with he fact that school is out – even though it only kind of “in” this year. But now kids will extra extra time at home, and it’s a great time to pick a show or two to binge together for the summer. Easier said than done sometimes, but read on to see how She-Ra might just come to the rescue for you and your family. Thanks, CNN!

101 (and then some) Animations!

,

Wow, here’s someone who put in the time! That someone is Grant Marek, Editor Director at SF Gate. With his daughters, he achieved the epic accomplishment of watching all 107 animated Disney films over the last few years. He’s got fast and funny one-line reviews for each, don’t miss the countdown to Number 1 and see if you agree!

The Most Star War-sie Star Wars Ever?

,

George Lucas has always told us that the idea of Star Wars drew heavily on the serial adventures of shows like Buck Rogers. And if you watch just a few episodes of the Clone Wars series, you’ll finally understand what he meant. The Sequels may have lost the plot for you, but there is a LOT to dive into here (133 episodes!) that will completely revive your appreciation for the life and times of that galaxy far, far away.

Sunday Sing-along: Yes, Grease is the Word!

,

I’ve actually done this before… the great Grease sing-along. And you know what? Fun is the word. And it’s even better, because CBS is including follow-along lyrics, just in case you don’t know every word to every song. But you do, because it’s GREASE! Get the family in on this one:)

Dear Class of 2020: A Virtual Graduation Event

,

The pandemic has obviously been hard for many folks on many fronts. For graduating seniors, it’s brought its own set of disappointments. That’s why streams like this are so important. We’re putting this one out there early – the live event isn’t until June 6th – just so parents and their seniors can be aware and start to weave this into their plans. Spread the word!
