A Baseball Battle Royale!

,

If you’re a baseball fan, you surely remember the thrill of the great home run race of 1998. Even if it’s a somewhat juice-tainted memory now, let ESPN take you back to those big-bashing days for some true baseball excitement in the midst of today’s lost season.

Another ESPN Must-Watch!

,

Hot on the heels of the epic “The Last Dance” doc about Michael Jordan and the Bulls, ESPN delivers a new Bruce Lee doc “Be Water,” also to very good reviews. Let USA Today tune you in so you might tune it in this week.

Weekend Watch #2

,

When the nuts over at PCMag start their family-tilting list with the complete Carol Burnett show and end with Lin-Manuel Miranda and Freestyle Love Supreme, well… guess I’m a nut, too. Serve yourself up a surprise this weekend!

Weekend Watch #1

,

Here’s an eclectic little batch of suggestions that is worth a quick look. From social commentary to supernatural chillers to straight up comedy, there are some really interesting choices to match any mood this weekend. Be good out there!

A Super Hot Trailer Fest!

,

The AV Club has always had it going on, and they really deliver (again) with the damn good slideshow of upcoming films. I beg you… at least tap in to the list and get as far as the Freestyle Love Supreme trailer from Hulu. You’ll learn a lot about the amazing creativity that came before both Hamilton and The Heights. Trust me…

Best Shows You Don’t Know: Ramy

,

Seriously, click the link and watch the trailer. A good friend in LA turned me on to this show, and it is the exact reason –along with a whole lot of other great and interesting shows – you should consider getting Hulu now!

Ramy, a sharp, POV-based comedy by Muslim-American Ramy Youssef, was one of 2019’s most original and promising new shows. The joint Hulu/A24 production spent most of its 10-episode first season upending, with a wink and plenty of heart, both the audience expectations of idiosyncrasies within a Muslim family in New Jersey, and the protagonist’s bumbling attempts to live a more spiritually enlightened life.

Helpful June Highlights

,

A nice little slideshow from CNN that hops across the landscapes for some highlights, new and old. From Casino to The Making of Frozen 2, there are some interesting suggestions here for the month ahead.

What’s New in June: Amazon Prime

,

Loving Amazon Prime more and more, and here are June’s new arrivals . Some nice trailers in the mix, and plenty of interesting little nuggets in here: For baseball fans, Darren McGavin gives us all the evil eye in The Natural. While for music fans, the government gives John Lennon the evil in The US vs. John Lennon. Put your eyes on it and see what you find:)

June on Netflix

,

Lots of June Netflix lists out there, but this one has a few key trailers mixed in. And probably nothing more exciting than the first one for Spike Lee’s first direct-to-streaming title, Da Five Bloods. I suspect we’ll be talking a lot about this one, which hits in mid-June. So get your sneak peek now!

One Word: Zenimation

,

With all the good streams tumbling at us these days, it’s easy to miss a quirky little one like this. But Mashable is on it. And their take? It’s a real shot of chill in a way you’d never expect. Binge softly, gentle readers!

Three Days Only: Led Zeppelin Alert!

,

If you like your Zep, you’ll love this free stream. But you don’t gotta whole lotta time on this one. Starting this Saturday, this great concert performance… their first headlining event in 27 years, at the time… is rocking on YouTube. Hit the link for more details and set your reminders!
